Since the millennium we have lost a third of all our hedgehogs. A big part of the reason for this is human activity such as intensive farming, road traffic and hard landscaping.

Hedgehogs now prefer areas in and around small towns and villages rather than farmland. However due to an increase in housing developments and more roads being built there is a big loss of connectivity between gardens and greenspaces meaning hedgehogs are isolated or having to cross busy roads.
